Detail Description

Milhemet Hovah, follow up to previous polemic of same name (Jerusalem 1882) against the Ohole Shem of R. Solomon Ganzfried, that work being on the orthography of Jewish names in bills of divorce. Primarily, R. Mordecai Eliezer ben David Weber, defends R. Hayyim Halberstam, the Divrei Hayyim, against R. Ganzfried's attacks.

R. Mordecai Eliezer b. David Weber (1822-1892) was born in Petrovoselo, Hungary. An erudite scholar and a colorful personality, he immigrated to Erez Israel in 1875, where he was involved in many polemic disputes.

... שוטני דחקוני ... ועל ידי מדקרות פיות ומכתבים אלצוני, ואוהבי הד"ח [הדברי חיים] בנחת יעצוני ... להסיר כל היתול וכל דיבור שנון [שבמהדורא קמא] ... להדפיס ... עוד פעם, ואחרי כי כבר גדל עונשי אשר הענישוני הא"ש [הבעל 'אהלי שם'] ואחוזת מרעהו ... אני מפרסם את שמי מרדכי אליעזר וועבר בהק' מוהר"ד ז"ל אשר היה עול הרבנות על שכמי בקהלות קדושות אדא, מאל, פעטראוואסעלא, בעטשע, פולדוואר ... וזה אחד עשר שנים זכיתי בעזה"י להסתופף בצל ... הר הקודש ירושלם ... בשנת ואוהביו כצאת ה'ש'מ'ש' בגבורתו

המחבר הדפיס הוצאה מורחבת זו משום שר' שלמה גאנצפריד הדפיס בינתיים תשובה בשם "מכסה לאוהל" ב"קיצור שלחן ערוך", לעמבערג תרמ"ד, ובה התקיף בחריפות את בעל "מלחמת חובה". בהוצאה זו באו גם דברי-תגובה על "מכסה לאוהל". הסכמה: ר' שלמה האלבערשטאם, ווישניצא, א תצא תרמ"ד.
